ADR goods – what are they?
ADR goods according to practitioners’ definition are products defined as dangerous due to their character. These are also products whose impact is dangerous for human health and ecological environment. Strict rules of transport of such goods are specified in the European ADR agreement (fr. L’Accord européen relatif au transport international des marchandises Dangereuses par Route).
How are they classified? Detailed classification of ADR dangerous goods is specified in annex to every agreement on transport of such goods. How are they classified?
- Class 1 concerns materials of explosive character e.g. firecrackers or other substances which after contact with others can explode.
- Class 2 are all kinds of toxic gases
- Class 3 concerns liquid substances which in contact with others can be flammable.
- Class 4.1 are solid materials of flammable character, including self-reactive substances and explosive materials
- Class 4.2 are materials which are characterized by being spontaneously combustible
- Class 4.3 concerns materials which after contact e.g. with water transform into harmful flammable gas
- Class 5.1 are all kinds of oxidizing materials
- Class 5.2 concerns organic peroxides
- Class 6.1 are toxic materials
- Class 6.2 concerns all infectious materials whose transport requires special caution
- Class 7 includes all materials of radioactive character which must be properly secured
- Class 8 are materials which after contact with other substances react toxically and are corrosive
- Class 9 concerns other materials considered as dangerous and objects e.g. with sharp edges
ADR goods – what is worth remembering?
Transport of dangerous goods requires also special Marking of labels which facilitate recognizing transported materials and their classification.Dangerous materials increasing risk of fire must be stored and transported in accordance with Regulation of MSWiA of April 12, 2002. It is also worth remembering that legal regulations specify also type of warehouse flooring as well as other aspects regarding internal infrastructure of warehouse e.g. in scope of placing additional ventilation or special lighting.
What requirements must a warehouse for storing ADR products meet?
